Well, my friend Rich Macke is the publisher and president of the infamous Port Arthur News. A newspaper that has been accused of being heavily influenced by special interest groups such as the PAC which is headed by former Senator Carl Parker.

The newspaper recently endorsed Tiffany Hamilton (a PAC candidate) to remain as the councils representative for district two. The newspaper has every right to endorse whomever they choose, even though she has stated that she knows whats best for her district, not the people that live there.

The problem that I have with the paper is not the fact that they ignored her lack of respect for her constituents. The problem that I have is that when Angel San Juan recieved complaints from citizens conserning the amount of money she has spent while on council on trips that did not benefit the city one bit. He verified the information, added the total amount spent by her and others on council during the same period of time, interviewed her, a concerned citizen and another unrelated citizen, Mr Macke wrote a scathing letter to the station in defense of HIS candidate.

He also accused Angel of not having reliable sources and providing us with FAKE NEWS. Why is it that the newspaper constantly endorses the candidates that the

PAC endorses, and now has come to the defense of pac candidates in an attempt to prevent people like Angel San Juan from giving us vital information that we can use when choosing a candidate. Does Boone Newspaper own the port arthur news, or does Carl Parker own its publisher and president?
